How We Review

Our testing process and scoring criteria, so you know exactly what a TechToolHub score means.

Last updated October 24, 2026

1. Hands-on testing

We sign up like a normal customer (or use a vendor-provided account, which we disclose) and use the tool for real work for at least a week. We note the plan, version and date tested in every review.

2. Side-by-side comparison

Each tool is compared against its two or three closest alternatives on the same tasks, so scores are relative to the real market and not just a feature checklist.

3. Scoring

Every review uses the same five weighted criteria:

CriterionWeightWhat we look at
Features & output quality30%Does it do the job well? How good are the results?
Ease of use20%Onboarding, interface, learning curve
Value for money20%Free plan, pricing, limits, hidden costs
Performance & reliability15%Speed, uptime, bugs
Support & privacy15%Docs, support, data handling and security

The weighted total is the overall score out of 5:

4.6· Excellent4.1· Great3.6· Good3.1· Average2.4· Poor

4. Keeping reviews current

Software changes fast. We re-check pricing and key features regularly and update the "Updated" date on every article we revise.

5. Independence

Scores are never for sale. Read our affiliate disclosure to see how we make money.
